Nice to meet you!

Bienvenue! I'm Julie. My journey into ceramics began in 2020, following a career in science and engineering that spanned both sides of the Atlantic. While the lab and the studio might seem like different worlds, I’ve found a meaningful parallel in the precision and experimentation both demand.

Now based in Santa Cruz, California, I blend that analytical background with a love for tactile, functional design. After four years on the wheel, I transitioned to slip-casting in 2025. This method allows me to refine my forms with intention and consistency.

Let's Gather

Growing up in France, I learnt that dinner isn't just a meal, it is a shared moment. It is loud, alive, and stretching late into the night. It is a place where we argue, laugh, pass plates, and truly connect.

I make pottery for that energy: soft colors and simple forms keep the table warm and inviting, never stuffy.

I don’t believe in waiting for a special occasion to use the 'good plates'. These pieces are built to bridge the gap between a dinner party and Tuesday night leftovers. They are versatile, durable, and meant to be used, washed, and loved every single day.

In the Studio

Making these pieces is a team effort. My husband and I work together to design and build the master molds for every new shape.

I cast each piece using porcelain with the color mixed right into the clay, rather than just painted on the surface. I leave the outside unglazed and sand it until it feels soft and stone-like, while the inside gets a clear glaze so it is easy to clean, food safe and stays free of cutlery marks.

I also single-fire most of my work. This cuts the energy use in half, making the process lighter on the planet without sacrificing any durability.
